Company expects to increase workforce by 10 percent in 2016
Mattawan, Mich. – In a response to continuing strong market demand, MPI Research is investing in its facilities and service offerings with a multi-million dollar renovation plan to be executed in 2016.
“Our 2015 pace of new business growth was strong, and our 2016 outlook is very positive. As a result, we have made it an organizational priority to increase our vivarium capacity to more efficiently meet the growing needs of our Sponsors,” said Ed Amat, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. “Once that phase is complete, we will also be renovating the clinical pathology lab, which plays an integral role in all phases of drug development.”
Amat added that expansion specifically reflects increasing demand for investigational and preclinical pharmaceutical and medical device studies. More than 55,000 square feet will be renovated throughout the project. By year end, more than 50 additional animal rooms will open, complete with state-of-the-art housing materials, ensuring the highest possible standards of animal welfare.
“We believe this new clinical pathology space will enhance our integrated and comprehensive pathology evaluations and advanced biomarker capabilities, reinforcing our commitment to efficiently and accurately providing data of the highest quality,” said Amat.
The renovation projects and opening of additional rooms will result in a significant workforce increase in 2016.
“We expect to increase staff by approximately 10 percent before the end of the year,” said Teri Nizzardini, Vice President of Human Resources. “Sponsors need larger studies completed in faster timeframes. These facility upgrades and the new talent we’ll be bringing in will allow us to better meet the industry demands.”
Looking beyond 2016, the Company said it is exploring plans to expand its surgical department with upgraded suites and additional equipment capabilities. MPI Research is currently the largest single-site pre-clinical contract research organization in the world.
