Mattawan, Mich. – MPI Research announced today it has welcomed Veterinary Ophthalmologist Ryan Boyd, DVM, MS, DACVO, to its growing team of ophthalmology experts.
“Dr. Boyd’s skills, experience and knowledge are welcome assets as we continue to expand this industry-leading specialization,” said Director of Ophthalmology Services Josh Bartoe, DVM, MS, DACVO. “Market demand for ophthalmology services is increasing, and having a second full-time, onsite veterinary ophthalmologist on our team is a significant benefit for our Sponsors that will allow for increased efficiencies and capabilities.”
This is Dr. Boyd’s second stint at MPI Research, as he previously served as a Staff Veterinarian from 2007 to 2012. He returns to the company after completing a residency in comparative ophthalmology and a master’s degree in comparative medicine and integrative biology at Michigan State University.
Dr. Boyd brings extensive knowledge to this position, having completed research projects in retinal gene therapy at MSU that yielded two publications in the journal Gene Therapy. In 2006, Dr. Boyd received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from MSU. A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists, Dr. Boyd has undergone unique training in a variety of animal species and models, making him exceptionally qualified to conduct a wide range of ocular studies.
