MPI Research, a leader worldwide in preclinical drug discovery and development research, is honored to play an active role in the 6th annual meeting of the Safety Pharmacology Society, being held September 26-28, 2006 at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego, California. We are pleased to announce a timely program of poster presentations, detailing the recent efforts of MPI Research scientists on our Safety Pharmacology team:

  • Validation of an ICH-compliant functional observational battery in nonhuman primates
  • Validation of rodent self-administration procedures for abuse liability testing in a contract research organization
  • Validation of rodent drug discrimination procedures for abuse liability testing in a contract research organization
  • Simultaneous assessment of ECGs using intracardiac and subcutaneous leads under various environmental conditions in nonhuman primates
  • Effects of cisapride, sotalol and haloperidol in a Langendorff assay and comparison to hERG, Purkinje fiber and in vivo telemetry assays
  • Validation of methods to assess respiratory function in tandem with pleural pressure and diaphragm EMGs in conscious freely-moving nonhuman primates

Additionally, Drs.
