MPI RESEARCH ACQUIRES FAST SYSTEMS, INC.

MPI Research is pleased to announce the acquisition of FAST Systems, Inc., an immunotoxicology provider. FAST Systems, now a Division of MPI Research, is located in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

With the addition of FAST Systems, MPI Research now offers a wide range of immunotoxicology capabilities and customized assays using flow cytometry, which includes immunophenotyping, NK cell cytotoxicity assay, macrophage and neutrophil phagocytosis assays, mitogen- and drug-induced lymphocyte proliferation, and detection of intracellular cytokines (Th1 and Th2 pathways). These assays are consistent with the recent FDA Guidelines entitled, “Immunotoxicology Evaluation of Investigational New Drugs,” and are an integral part of the new general toxicity testing requirements. Assays can be conducted in mice, rats, nonhuman primates, dogs, and pigs and conducted in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices.

MPI Research now has the capability to develop new immunotoxicology assays to fit any research program. Combining the elements of immunotoxicology into its current toxicology services and capabilities, demonstrates MPI Research’s ongoing desire to develop new technologies to meet the ever expanding needs of our customers.

Dr. Marlon C. Rebelatto, Director of Immunotoxicology, commented, “This acquisition provides an ideal combination of experiences for immunotoxicity testing. Together, we will provide reliable and customized studies to fulfill our sponsors’ needs in immunotoxicology.”

Dr. M. J. Waxdal, Division President, commented, ”We are very excited about joining MPI Research. This association expands our offering of state of the art science to our clients.”

MPI Research has the vision to become the best, full service non-clinical contract research organization in the industry.
