Jan VanSteenhouse, D.V.M., Ph.D., A.C.V.P.,
MPI’s new Director of Clinical
Pathology |
MPI Research is pleased to announce the
addition of Dr. Jan VanSteenhouse to our
illustrious scientific team. Dr. VanSteenhouse
comes to MPI from ANTECH Diagnostics in Atlanta,
GA where she served as a Senior Clinical
Pathologist since 1999. Dr. VanSteenhouse
received her D.V.M. from Michigan State University
in 1976. After several years in private practice,
she completed her Residency in Clinical Pathology
at the University of Tennessee in 1986 and
was boarded by the A.C.V.P. Dr. VanSteenhouse
next completed an NIEHS sponsored, dual discipline
Pathology and Toxicology Doctoral program
at Colorado State University in 1989. Dr.
VanSteenhouse then served with distinction
at Louisiana State University from 1989 to
1999 as both an Assistant and Associate Professor
of Veterinary Clinical Pathology. During
her tenure at LSU, she was awarded several
research grants, most notably, the 1992 Pharmaceutical
Manufacturers Association Foundation Award.
She was also awarded the LSU Alumni Association
Distinguished Faculty Award in 1995. She
has authored over 20 articles in peer reviewed
journals, as well as several other articles
and a chapter in the “Clinical Textbook
for Veterinary Technicians” and made
numerous presentations to her peers at scientific
meetings.
As Director of Clinical Pathology, Dr. VanSteenhouse
is responsible for coordinating interpretation
of clinical pathology data in toxicology
studies conducted at MPI Research. This includes
reviewing the clinical pathology results
and correlating the interpretation with in-life
and histopathological findings of the study.
She will serve as the MPI Research specialist
on clinical pathology issues, interacting
as necessary with Sponsors and Study Directors
in the discussion of study designs. She will
also serve as a scientific resource for the
clinical pathology laboratory, providing
information regarding technical procedures
for existing and new assays.
David G. Serota, Ph.D., D.A.B.T., Director
of Toxicology at MPI Research commented, “We
